I am getting Build errors like "Link Err Create Device error LNK2019"?

Check if you have included the library as well as header paths in the compiler. If you are using VC++.NET go to Tools->Options->Projects->VC++Directories and from the "Show directories for" Menu, Select the "Include files" and set the path as DXSDK_Path\Include. Select the "Library files" and set the path as DXSDK_Path\Lib (DXSDK_Path is the path of the folder in which you have installed the SDK.)

If the path is already set and if you are getting "unresolved external errors" Then you may have forgotten to include the proper libraries such as d3d9.lib, dsound.lib, ddraw.lib, dinput8.lib and so on. Also you must also include the dxguid.lib in which all the GUID's are defined. GUID (Globally unique Identifier) is used to distinguish the different objects and COM interfaces in DirectX.
