What are the effects that can be created using DirectMusic?

DirectX provides support for effects processing of sounds by DirectX Media Objects (DMOs). A standard set of effects is available to every DirectX application. Other DMOs can be registered on the system. The standard effects can be classifies into capture effects and playback effects.

Capture Effects
Acoustic echo cancellation capture effect, Noise suppression capture effect, Microsoft acoustic echo cancel action capture effect, Microsoft noise suppression capture effect, System default acoustic echo cancellation capture effect, System default noise suppression capture effect PlayBack Effects

Chorus effect, Compressor effect, Distortion effect, Echo effect, Flanger effect, Gargle effect, Environmental reverberation effect, parametric equalizer effect, Waves reverberation effect.

Effects are attached to DirectSound buffers in audio paths. To add, remove, or modify effects at run time to an audio path, you must first obtain an IDirectSoundBuffer8 interface to a buffer on the path. Then set one or more effects on that buffer by using IDirectSoundBuffer8::SetFX. (Initialize the DSEFFECTDESC structure with the required Effect GUID and pass the structure to the SetFX function call.)
