What is the Dynamic Vertex Buffer used for?
A Dynamic Vertex Buffer is used to store your vertex data if it is changing frequently. (As for a ordinary vertex buffer it size can't be changed once it is created). To create the dynamic vertex buffer, simply specify the dynamic flag (D3DUSAGE_DYNAMIC) while creating a vertex buffer and a buffer size. The dynamic flag tells the driver that the Lock () function will be called frequently on this buffer and hence the driver will store it optimally in memory (To avoid the delay in Locking).
Eg: - A particle engine is a good example of a system that uses the dynamic vertex buffer.
