What is DXGI?

With DirectX 10, much of the basic low level resources and operations which stay constant and common across most versions of Direct3D have been isolated from the core runtime and organized into a new component: DirectX Graphics Infrastructure (DXGI) API.

  • Consists of common 2D, focus and adapter-management functionality.
  • DXGI will act as a common stable and consistent foundation for subsequent versions of DirectX. It also allows developers to share resources between these different API’s.
