Why should I register as a user?
There are many advantages to becoming a member of Programmers Heaven. Among them are the following:
- Mail system: Allows you to send and recieve messages (not email!) with other users.
- Personal page: Lets you tell the world about what you like, who you are and what you can do.
- Friends list: Keep a list of your friends from Programmers Heaven.
- Message posting: Ask questions to recieve help or help others out.
- Bookmarking: Keep a list of bookmarks to pages you have found useful.
- Favorite messageboards: A list of the messageboards you like to frequent.
- Notifications: Receive an email, once a day, about changes to various pages.
- CodePedia access: Access to Programmers Heaven's own wiki.
- And much, much more!
How do I register?
In the login box in the left column you will find a link to the register page. When you click on it, you will recieve a page with our Terms and Conditions of membership. If you agree to those terms, click "I Agree" and follow the directions on the page that follows.
Will I get my own personal email address (user@programmersheaven.com)?
No. Although Programmers Heaven allows you to send mail to other users, this is an internal system and is not normal email. You won't be able to use your favorite email program/webmail to access this mail.
How do I remove my account from this site?
This site does not have a way to remove your account yourself. If you really don't want all the great features provided, please
contact the webmaster to request removal.
How do I logout?
On the left side of every page, there is a box with the title "Members". The last link in this box is "Logout"; just click and follow the normal prompts.
What is autologin?
Autologin provides the convenience of not having to retype your username and password every time you come back to this site. While a great feature, this can be a problem if you share your computer with other people or are using a public computer. If you would like to use it, just mark the autologin checkbox under the login form when you login. I you want to turn it off, see the
next question.
How do I remove autologin?
To turn off autologin, all you have to do is logout. This removes the cookie that contains your username and password so that you will have to reenter them next time you come back to visit us. To turn it back on, see the
previous question.
I can't login!
Are you sure you have the right username and password? Obviously, you can't login if you don't. If you have forgotten your username or password, you can visit the "
forgotten password" form a new password to be sent to you by email.
I didn't receive my password by email, what do I do?
Are you sure you entered the correct email address when you registered? If so, then try sending yourself an email and make sure it works. Perhaps your mailbox is full? Try deleting some emails to make room for this one and the use the "
forgotten password" form to have it sent to you by email.
I have forgotten my password and my email has changed.
In this case, I'm afraid that you will have to re-register. The password can only be sent to the email address you entered when you signed up. The email address can't be changed unless you know your password. For security reasons, we at Programmers Heaven can't retrieve your password for you.
How do I change the password?
On top right corner you'll find a "My Settings" link which links you to the settings page. On the Settings page there is a tab called "Change Password" click it and then set your new password.
