Java, Linux Dominate Embedded Year

Last year’s embedded systems market exhibited two extremes. There was the glacial advance of Java, which although available since 1995, is only now beginning to gain traction in embedded systems. And there was the meteoric rise of embedded Linux, which by one account is nearly overtaking proprietary RTOSes, the longtime mainstay of embedded designs.
