The
Thin File company has upgraded
Thin Slice Upload to version 1.02, improving the compatibility for the product with webservers on the Windows operating system platform.
Thin Slice Upload is a general purpose resumable multiple file uploader that allows web site visitors to send files simply by dropping them on the designated area of their browser.
As the name suggests,
Thin Upload is an ultra thin client that is compatible with all popular server-side scripting/programming languages such as PHP, Perl, ASP.NET etc. At just 50 Kilo Bytes it loads almost instantly.
It can easily upload thousands of files and folders containing gigabytes of data over an HTTP connection regardless of the web server configuration.
For example the PHP engine has a default limit of 2MB for file uploads.
Thin Slice Upload is completely unaffected by it. You can use the applet to upload very large files for processing by your php scripts without having to edit your php.ini file.
The ability to bypass the server's limitations makes
Thin Slice Upload ideal for use on shared webservers. Also noteworthy is the applet's ability to resume an interrupted session. Additionally, the user has the option to stop an ongoing transfer and restart it later at a more convenient time.
The new release makes
Thin Slice Upload compatible with recent changes to the Internet Explorer browser. Other changes to the applet and the server-side scripts make it more compatible with web servers running on the windows platform (most notably IIS).
