Description

Whether you're a veteran coder, an academic, or someone new to programming, you have probably come across the term 'Genetic Algorithms' or 'Evolutionary programming'. Even if you haven't, and this is your first time hearing of it, you are probably scratching your chin wondering how something as artificial as a computer algorithm, could be classed as being 'Genetic', let alone 'Evolutionary'. After all, computers are just in-animate machines created to do our bidding, surely they could never 'Evolve'? Or could they.. Worry not, for in the next few pages we shall try to demystify this puzzling, yet captivating topic and find out what Genetic Algorithms are really all about (and why your printer will never evolve into an evil robot set on destroying you.. hopefully).
