Description
Devart is glad to present the release of the new versions of ADO.NET data providers, enhanced database connectivity solutions, built over the ADO.NET architecture, that support Entity Framework and LinqConnect ORM solutions. New versions of dotConnect data providers offer users a number of improvements in LinqConnect and Entity Developer, which will up-grade performance and facilitate usability.
LinqConnect
Renewed LinqConnect demonstrates a new degree of performance and stability. With the help of upgraded LinqConnect users can apply the improved SubmitChanges for the most complicated cases.
Devart Team made an effort to optimize the performance of LinqConnect and as a result cache was improved, Submit performance and materialization performance has risen and stored procedure mapping was enhanced.
Starting from the 4.0 version, LinqConnect uses only its own classes. It does not reference the System.Data.Linq assembly any more so this assembly is not loaded with applications, using LinqConnect. However that does not affect on the LINQ to SQL compatibility. Public interface of the classes is completely compatible with the public interface of Microsoft LINQ to SQL classes. Moreover, Devart Team has added the Upgrade Wizard for easy upgrading of LinqConnect projects to the new version of LinqConnect in a few clicks.
Entity Developer
New Entity Developer offers a number of usability improvements. Users can now personalize shape color by selecting Shape -> Color from the shape shortcut menu. In the new version the possibility to quickly Expand All / Collapse All elements on diagram was added.
Cut/copy/paste functionality behaviour was changed. Now when pasting copied entities to a diagram where they are not present, the existing entities are added to the diagram instead of creating new entities. Moreover, when cutting entities, they are cut only from the diagram, not from the whole model.
