Partitions in a computer system are logical spaces in a hard disk, which are created to separate the system files and data files. The motto behind keeping the system files away from the data files is to ensure that there is enough space for virtual memory paging and swapping. Another benefit of this separation is that if one of the non-system drives gets corrupted, the other partitions remains safe. Yet, corruption to partitions is unbearable as it creates a lot of trouble and the worst part is that partitions fall prey to corruption quite often. Corruption could loom the partition because of various reasons, like power outages, improper system shutdown, damaged system files, virus infections, software failure, malfunction, etc. Because of corruption issue, you may come across following error message, saying:

Operating system not found Missing Operating System

Eruption of this error message restricts user to boot his Windows XP operating system and consequently stops you from accessing the system...

In the Windows systems, the registry hive is a system file that contains the keys, subkeys, or values of the registry in the system. For each user profile, a separate registry hive is created by the operating system, which is called the 'user profile hive'. Sometimes the user registry hive becomes corrupt due to hard disk corruption, virus infections, abrupt or unplanned system shutdown, etc.

In such cases, you would not be able to start the system and have to look out for ways to fix the registry problem and recover Windows data. If you are unable to address the problem, then you should use a third-party windows data recovery software to solve the issue.

Consider a situation in which you are unable to start Windows 2000 system as it is displaying the following error message at startup:

“Stop: 0xc0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SYSTEM or its log or alternate...

When you start a Windows system, first of all the number of operating systems that are installed in the system are scanned and listed. After that, you can select and go ahead with the operating system with which you want to log onto the system. This information is stored in the boot.ini file, which is not a read-only file.

Because of not being a read-only file, the boot.ini file can get corrupt or may contain incorrect entries, due to which the system would not start. In such circumstances, you should modify the boot.ini file using the Windows Setup CD. However, if that does not work then you should use a third-party windows data recovery software to recover Windows data.

Consider a scenario wherein you are unable to start your Windows XP system. The following error message is displayed in a black screen:

“Invalid Boot.ini”

Cause:

The root cause of this problem is that the boot.ini file is either missing, damaged, or contains incorrect entries...

Despite being the most popularly used system, Windows has not been able to escape the bugs and problems that come bundled with any software package. And the same applies to Windows Vista as well. I encountered a major problem last week, when I tried to boot my system. When all my attempts failed to revive my system and recover my data, I had to use Windows data recovery tools as I did not have backup of all my data saved on my hard drive.

During startup of my Windows Vista system, immediately after the splash screen, there appeared a black screen which had a moving progress bar. Along with this, an error message also flashed:

“A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

CLFS.SYS

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

If this is the first time you’ve seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:...

The Windows Registry store the system configuration settings of the operating system and the applications installed on it. If the registry files get corrupted, then the system fails to recognize the operating components as well as the applications and the whole system becomes inaccessible. Though options are there to repair and replace the registry files, the process is quite complex and tedious. Hence, for faster and safe recovery of the data it is better to opt for any Windows data recovery utility.

Scenario:

While trying to start or restart your computer with Windows XP operating system, the system ceases to boot further. The system displays an error message and hangs during the booting process. As the system fails to boot, the data in the drive remains inaccessible and any Windows data recovery software is a wiser choice to get back your valuable data. The error message can be any of the following:

“Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM”...

When you start a Windows XP system, first of all the core files are executed to boot the system. Some of these files are ntldr, boot.ini, ntdetect.com, ntoskrnl.exe, hal.dll, etc. These files are very critical for the well-being of the system. When one or all of these files are missing or get corrupt, then the system starts behaving abnormally. Such cases may arise due to power outages, virus infections, corrupt file system, damaged operating system, etc.

You should use appropriate corrective measures to rectify the problem. If you are not able to provide a solution, then you should use a third-party windows recovery tool to do this.

Consider a scenario wherein you start Windows XP and you experience the following cases:

The Start button or taskbar is not visible.

Every Windows XP computer contains a mountable or system volume, which has operating system installed on it. After completion of POST (Power On Self Test) operation, your computer reads the system partition and loads operating system. However, if your system is unable to recognize the boot or system partition, your Windows machine may not boot up.

This behavior enders your system unusable and inaccessible, causing severe data loss. In such critical situations, an updated and valid backup proves great help. But, if backup is not available, windows recovery is the only way to go.

In a practical instance of unbootable Windows XP computer, you may come across the below error messages while booting up y our computer:

I believe most of you, like me, upgraded to Windows Vista when it was launched as it promised better performance and reliability along with better graphic experience. However, people soon realized that it is unable to match the robustness and support for hardware and software that Windows XP provides. Because of this, some of us opted for dual-boot systems.

However, at times you are not able to access Windows Vista when you make it a dual-boot system. In such situations, you should use appropriate measures to resolve the issue. If you are unable to address the situation then you should use a third-party Windows data recovery software to do so.

Consider a scenario wherein you have Windows Vista in your computer system. Now, you install Windows XP so as to make it a dual-boot system. However, when you start the system you are not able to boot the Windows Vista and only Windows XP is starting.

File system corruption in Windows XP is one of the most common reasons for unbootability of the computer system. The reasons responsible for damage in file system are unexpected system shutdown (due to power outage or human mistakes), virus infection, MFT (Master File Table) damage, and more. An easy way to get past the file corruption issues in a Windows XP system is by executing CHKDSK/F command. This command checks the physical and logical integrity of the file system and repairs it in case of any damage.

Although the command is a life-saver in most of the situations, it does not guarantee 100% success in every file system corruption issue. In such cases, when the CHKDSK command fails to repair, an ideal alternative is to reinstall Windows XP and restore data from an updated backup. However, in case no backup is available, the user can easily recover data using a commercial Windows Recovery application...

Microsoft Windows is the most widely used computer operating system, which is employed by professionals as well as home users. In a Windows based computer, data is stored on your hard drive, which is the most significant component of your computer system. Operating system and other applications are also installed on hard drive and your system boots from it.

Under some circumstances, you may face critical errors while accessing data from your hard drive. It causes severe data loss, in case backup is not updated, and you have to opt for windows data recovery solutions to extract lost, missing, or inaccessible data from hard drive.

The hard drive logical failure or corruption is indicated by various error messages in Windows operating system. These errors can be simple messages on a dialog box or a stop error on blue screen. For instance, you may encounter the below error message when you try to write data to or access data from the Windows hard drive:...

When you boot your Microsoft Windows-based computer from hard drive, BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) code describes startup disk and then reads MBR (Master Boot Record) from it. The boot code in MBR searches from active partition on hard drive. If the first hard drive doesn't have any active partition or it can not locate system partition to boot your system, the system can not boot up.

This behavior renders all your mission-critical data inaccessible and causes severe Windows data loss. In such situations, you need to perform windows data recovery to recover inaccessible data from Windows hard drive.

When master boot code of your Windows computer can not locate boot partition, MBR may display any of the below error messages:

Invalid partition table.

Error loading operating system.

Missing operating system.

Corruption in system files can take place under numerous circumstances, like improper system shutdown, virus infection, and operating system malfunction. Windows Vista is embedded with a powerful utility – SFC (System File Checker) – that provides complete check of missing and damaged system files. To run SFC utility, the user needs to log on as an administrator. While in most cases, the utility repairs the corrupt system files, there is no guarantee that the command will always succeed in performing the task.

In situations where the command fails to repair the system files, it logs all its actions to a log file saved at C:\WINDOWS\LOGS\CBS. The files mentioned in the CBS.LOG file need to replaced if the user needs to boot his/her Windows Vista based system. However, if the user is unable to do so, then the only option is to reinstall Windows Vista. To recover files post fresh reinstall of Windows Vista, the user needs to opt for an effective windows data recovery software...
