pros and cons

What are the pros and cons od programming in Assembly? Are there any solutions to the cons?

  • The pros are small, fast code. The cons are the code is hard to read, hard to maintain and takes about twiceas long as regular code to write. But don't let any of this discourage you. Assembly language is very fast and generate small executables. It also allows you full access to the hardware and is ideal for speed optimzations, especially in grpahics and math intensive programs.

    :
Pros are speed, lower memory requirement and greater control over the CPU
Cons are learning all of the mnemonics, understanding the CPU's architecture, and de-bugging - especially someone else's coding.
Are there any solutions to the cons? Yes, build a library of re-usable code. You then have the option to cut and paste or use include files. Some CPU's have good auto-debugging tools. Unfortunately, some don't. The best solution in the latter case is to develop greater patience - or employ another assembler programmer.
