I recommend 2 books, for a fast introduction,
Pocket Guide to TCP/IP Sockets (now called Practical TCP/IP I think) by Donahoo & Calvert, search on

For more in depth try, Linux Socket Programming by Example by Warren G ay, Que Publishing.

Any linux programming books cover basic socket programming, so they are a good start before getting the books above.

Search for these on, thats where I look for all my programming books. If you're lucky, some books have a lot of reviews, and it helps me make my decisions.

I don't know of any advanced socket text just yet.
