how to open certain database file

Hi everyone

I need a way to open a database file from which I think

it's a file made by 'clipper' (programming language if I'm

correct)

the files extension is .NTX

now I need a way to open it and to retract the data to

put it all in our newer access database

before I never heard of this extension (and format), so

any help or example would be appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance,

-H-

I don't know anything specifically about .NTX format files but... I am assuming that this is going to be in binary format. You will first have to determine exactly what is the header of this file(and possibly trailer), strip this off, determine the index portion of this file (if it is based on ISAM and not true database indexing), determine if a portion of each record is stored as part of the index or is the index merely using a pointer (if it is the latter you can completely ignore the index and just read straight from the data portion). Of course you will have to convert all info from your NTX file from binary. I did something similar 5/6 years ago in C but I had documentation on the structure of the existing format. This was a tough job that gave me a headache for a week afterwards.
