flipping images

I know how to define IMG dimensions by using the width and height parameters of the IMG tags but is there a way to flip the images?

I mean that if I wanted to vertically flip an image, I could turn it from looking like "9" and make it look like "d"

Not that I know of. You would either have to use an external image editing tool or some other programming language like JavaScript, Java, or Flash to do something like that.

How would you do it in JavaScript? I am already using some JavaScript in the page so that might be easy to get working.

I am making a program to create these pages so it might be hard to use Flash or Java. It is very importent that the page is loads the images from separate files, also.

The page is for artists to preview artwork. The images in the page are arranged to look like a map in a game. I want the artists to edit the separate graphic files and just refresh the page to preview the changes and see how the game would look.

If you don't mind modifying the images server side, then try using ImageMagik; there's a library for accessing it iin Perl if that's what you're using for scripting.

    Thanks for the tips.

Someone directed me to a page for doing it.

That page also has some other neat graphical effects like inverting colours, grayscaling the image... by using a filter in the style parameter of the IMG tag.
