i need information on how to program sound under linux.

(/dev/dsp)

does anybody know some good links ?



amd how about using the adlib under linux ?

    Most ppl these days uses ESD as sound daemon which hookup the /dev/dsp, and esd has great APIs for sound and stuff, it requires audiofile and stuff. You should try it..

    Dont know the URL though, look at www.enlightenment.org you should find a link for it there...

    For compatibility's sake, _don't_ program a specific card!!

    Escpecially because the Adlib is an older card.

    Here you can find the Quake 1 source code, which

    (I believe) does sound output in low-level to /dev/dsp



    Even if you don't need this info, you should still get Quake1 source, which can help you in every aspect of Linux or Windows programming.
