Are you sure you really want to do EMS programming?
EMS is a 286 programming band-aid, and was obsoleted when XMS standard was developed on the 386 and higher.

You can find the XMS specification here:
    http://burks.brighton.ac.uk/burks/pcinfo/progdocs/xms30.htm

Expanded memory (EMS) is truly evil and awful to work with. Avoid it if you can!

I mean exactly that. EMS is an old, outdated, obsolete, slow and difficult to work with method for memory management. With EMS you can only request one 64k "page" at a time.

XMS is a better method. Read that spec I pointed you to.

Even better than that is flat real mode or protected mode.
You can then access all of system memory at any time and do with it whatever you want.
