Not a programmer but have questions...

Hello, I am a hardware tech and have very little programming knowledge. I have a customer that is interested in purchasing a notebook computer with an intel 64bit processor. He is also in need of a 64bit assembler. I have no idea what a 64bit assembler is - I assume it is a programming language, at least that's what I can gather after an hour of googling. Anyways, what questions do I need to query the customer with to determine his exact needs. I assume things like Windows version, processor, etc are all considerations. I have asked him what he uses now but I got a rambling of programming jargon that confused me even more. HELP! Thanks in advance...

FASM has the ability to build 64-bit code. It is a free ssembler tool. You can get it here: [link=http://flatassembler.net/download.php]FASM[/link].

It is a tool which compiles assembly code and can load and run them
You can tell him that he can download/buy the software separately.

Thanks for everyone's input. He has chosen to replace Windows Vista with Ubuntu and settled on an open source solution. Thanks again!
