Shutdown bat

I want to make my computer shut its self down during the night. I can do it in command prompt, but when I try to get a bat file to do it, it just prints the command over and over, without actioning it, can anyone help.

I just blow a 450watt PSU, and dont really have alot of additional hardware, though I do run it constantly, so If I could get a scheduled shutdown working, that might save the 520watt I've had to put in.

Also probably just lazy to ask, but still it would be cool, is there a way to do a scheduled start-up. I would be more than happy with the shutdown.

Thanks in advance for your help guys.

Scheduled start-up is quite easy to setup in most BIOSes. Check the documentation of your BIOS where the setting is located.
Here's the code to shutdown the computer immediately:
shutdown -s -t 0
You can place this code into a BAT file and run it to shutdown the computer. By changing the 0 into the number of seconds to wait, you can create a delay.
