Direct3D - what does rotation+transformation do?


I'm learning the basics of Direct3D,

Series 1 - Part 5 describes the Rotation und Transfom of Vertices etc.

It says to use them together with a *
'Cause I was curious, I tried it with a +

I was surprised not to get any errors but wasn't able to understand what happen...

My Question is what does the + effects? Why do I get such an result?
