This is not a help call, but rather a general discussion call.
Have you recently written a program where you had to store the target IP address in a variable and you allocated 4 bytes to it to accomodate 32-bits? Did you make room for the possibility that later it might be used with IPv6 by allowing it to extend to 128-bits (16 bytes)?
I believe IPv6 is quite near to actual widespread implementation and Internet/Network developers should start accomodating their applications now.
