: i would like to know if there are any free tutorials for games programing in c++ for a beginner on the net
: thanx in advance for your help

Learn to program C/C++ first, and THEN go onto game programming. It is easy once you know how to program. In fact, after you learn C/C++ pretty well you'll know how to do what you need.
Remember to download a graphics library before trying to write your own, unless you're good.

You need help alright. There are many game programming tutorials, but they won't teach how to use C++. C++ and game programming are two different subjects. You should spend at least 6 months learning the language, and another 3 studying game concepts in DOS (in 320X200). After mastering C++, search for "c DOS game programming", or "c mode 13".

I hope I don't offend anyone here but isn't DOS pretty much dead? why would you want to program games for it anymore?

Well first it's a hell of a lot easier than Windows programming. Second it is NOT dead in the programming realm, DOS will never be eliminated. Hell you can even get NT 4 to run DOS programs with graphics. Third there are too many limitations in programming in Windows. Fourth, Windows sucks for optimized programming and crashes. Fifth, Microsoft will fall within 10 years to free OSes like Linux, *I'm* not going to specialize in a soon-to-be dead platform.
