MFC + DirectDraw Question

I'm making a Document/View MFC application with a single document interface and want to know what is the best way to implement DirectDraw into it. I'm making a map editor for a game but can't decide where all the DirectX initalization should go. I'm leaning toward putting it in the view class, but don't have any single good reason to do so. Any ideas which class I should implement it?
