Help Displaying Icons

I need to display eother an icon or a bitmap on the screen using x,y coordinates. I'm using a borland compiler and my project
is dos based with BGI graphics. I need this for a game I am making. Does anybody know how to do this? Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thankyou

  • First off, BGI is really lame. Get a REAL graphics library.
There are many around. If you are using a 16 bit (Turbo C Borland), try SVGACC from ZEPHYR SOFTWARE. If you are using 32bit (BCC32 Borland) try the ALLEGRO library.
These are just two of many out there.

  • The software from ZEPHYR is a shareware

Is there a freeware graphics library for Turbo Borland C++
  • Okay I downloaded the Shareware version

I got a header file, a*.lib file and another header file

But how do I install this library so that it is made compatible with BC++ 3.1 ( In genral for any nwely acquired library)

You should have gotten: SVGACC.h and SVGACC.lib
Put the SVGACC.lib in your lib directory and the SVGACC.h include directory.
When you compile a program, make sure it has the header file somewhere at the top. Add the SVGACC.lib to your makefile in the library list.
Or if you just compile from the command line do:
    TCC myprogram.c SVGACC.LIB

I've never used it with BC++, only Turbo C.
If BC++ is 32bit it may not work.
Are you using a GUI editor to compile from or the command line?
