Typecasting

I've been working on a file converter, and need to typecast a string to a double.
the only thing close I've managed to find is the VAL function,
but it returns an int.
what other function am I missing?

  • On second look, something must be wrong with my code,
because the val function does indeed return doubles.

VAL is not a typecast ! it is a string to int conversion function. is takes a ascii string with a decimal numbre a makes a number from that ! For typecasting you definitely need something else ... I don't think there are any basic functinos for that ...

No, it isn't. But Val is indeed exactly what she needed.
