Just a simple card game

Hey guys, I'm wanting to make a simple card game (if any of you have played
Star Wars KOTOR you'll recognize Pazaak) buy I'm not sure which language
for Linux does easy graphics. In winblows I would use VB. Seeing that I'm
a newbie to programming the language that I use has to be EASY, SIMPLE (no
direct x or open gl) and just plain GOOD. If any of you can offer help and
maybe some guidance also that would be great. By guidance I mean possibly
briefly explain that basics of doing graphics in the prescribed language
(ie. how to in Perl, python, etc.)

Also, I don't think I'm ready for C++ or C yet but if they have basic on
Unix that would be cool. Thanks

Do the programming in whatever feels best, and use glade to make the display and input code. It's a seperate program, and it'll output c++, perl, and others I don't remember offhand, code for the graphics and io.
