Linux Programming

Hello,
I'm new to linux programming.
I've tried QT designer and KDeveloper but didn't got much success.

[b]In order to become a programer in linux environment which language
and IDE should i prefer?[/b]

I've done some programming in windows environment in C/C++,
Visual Stuido VB and VC++. I've also tried my hand on java.
Although, the first one i learn was BASIC.

Please Help.

    hey buddy u can use any of the languages(C,C++,JAVA and u can even use windows DLL's in ur C or C++ programs) on linux. I advice u to use GCC as ur compiler and u have many IDE available for programming try ( type kwrite or kedit or gedit ) and check it out. Best of luck.

    Well thanks i've used GCC for a while for c/c++ and probably would opt for c++ or java but do you know any online better way to start with. I know there are lots of sites but can you figure out any best of them.
