any good freeware c++ compiler

i've been using Dev-C++ version 4.9.8.0 and i find it kinda unreliable at times. i was wondering if anyone could recommend any better freeware compilers i couold try and where i could find them.

    The Dev IDE and the debugger aren't of much use anyway. The main reason for using Dev is the excellent ANSI C/C++ conformance of gcc. Borland has become better and better in conformance though, and the compiler has always been very efficient.

    I have both compilers installed, gcc for checking standard issues, and Borland to handle the compilation/linking of the real program.

    (Btw, compilation time is a real pain in Dev. You could go and make coffee meanwhile, and it will still be compiling when you get back. Borland Builder projects with VCL graphics compiles faster than Dev console programs...)
