hw do i Use a usb memory stick

I have a machine which runs RH Linux 8. I am failing to use a usb memory stick. how do i configure the machine so that it recognises the device and
automaticaly mount it? do i need to download any drivers or programs?

    No, you just need to add an entry to the fstab file which tells the system about which devices are available. I think that this is available under /etc somewhere - you may have to hunt a bit as I am not too familiar with RH.

    USB keys are usually /dev/sda4 or /dev/sda1 - you may have to change the numbers to find which socket you have plugged the key into.

    I think that there is a man page for fstab, else just copy the format used by the other filesystems already present.

    Sorry if this only gives a vague idea what to do - I'm in a rush and the bell for next class has just rung.

    Read the site, print it out. I would keep the printouts somewhere where you have access to them easily. I keep things like that with my laptop just in case I need to refer to them.
