I'm well and truly stuck!!!!!

Hi,
I guess this ain't anything unuasual to anybody but I need some code for a few things in Microsoft Visual Basic Express Edition 2005!!
I am making a program that requires my windows form to access the computer that it is installed on - however I cannot find a way to do this!!!

Also I am making a program that has to figure out if your answers in the textboxes are correct. Using the help menu I found out how to do this using the 'Case' function but with 12 forms and 12 texboxes a page. As you probably realise this could take a little while to complete. Does anyone know how I could the same thing but much quicker???I need this program completed quickly!!!

Thanks to anyone that looks and tries to help me as all project need to be completed - and fast, a few months in fact. I tie up the family comp doing it so I cant do it for that long a day.

Thanks again!!!

What do you mean saying that?

  • In any program almost you need to access the computer to SAVE OR LOAD. In my program you edit files, meaning you have to open a folder in your computer, within your program to open it!

It does not mean that you have to have access to computer! You already have it, I hope. It means you need to do some manipulatuion with files not computer. To do that you have to use FileStream, StreamWrite and StreamRead classes

You may find some code examples here

PS. This PH messagebord mostly for people you still working with VB 6. At the same time yours questions is about VB.NET. I think it will be better for you to ask help here

There are a bunch of on-line .net tutorials on Web.
Here it is one of them

    Search Google for vb.net tutorial

  • I just realised that there was a different version for .NET!! SO that means that I can't be using .NET

    :
The EXPRESS edition which is free for download till Nov 6th,2006 from Microsoft, has syntax ( code words ) that are the same as VB.Net that is also part of the VISUAL STUDIO package.

The "EXPRESS" edition is a cut-down version of the full VB.Net package ( i think with the web stuff removed ) and is aimed at beginners.

For the other EXPRESS editions of VISUAL PACKAGES see the following link:->

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/default.aspx

For .iso or .img files of all the EXPRESS VISUAL PACKAGES look at the links further down this internet page>>

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/support/install/

.iso or .img files are what most cd/dvd burning packages like NERO can use by the way.

    Dr M.
