problem with regsvr32

Hello,

I'm trying to register a dll on my machine using
regsvr32 "pathname". When I do this, I get the following
message:

The DLLRegisterServer Entry point was not found.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I also get an error message stating that DllRegisterServer my not be exported.

Where can I find DllRegisterServer and how can I export it??

    Thanks again

That means the DLL you are trying to register is not designed to be registered. Why exactly do you want to register it?
'DllRegisterServer()' is a function inside a DLL which designed to be a COM container. The message means that this DLL does not have this function inside it. This DLL is to be used most likely with 'LoadLibrary()/GetProcAddress()' - the good old ways...

    Thank you.

I was trying to register a particular DLL so I can reference the DLL in my VB application. I would like to use a function within this DLL.
    I appreciate your input.

  • If you are using VB6, then you should have this file:

    C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual StudioCommonToolsWinapiWIN32API.TXT

    Look inside your installation folder...
Find the declarations for 'LoadLibrary()', 'FreeLibrary()' and
'GetProcAddress()' and copy/paste them into your VB module. This way you can use it, just by calling them as usual.
