The C source code creates a virtual computer and its operating
system,whose architecture has been designed in such a way that
the executablemachine codes are evolvable. This means that the
machine code can be mutated(by flipping bits at random) or
recombined (by swapping segments of codebetween algorithms),
and the resulting code remains functional enough of thetime for
natural (or presumably artificial) selection to be able to
improvethe code over time.

Develop your own creatures and let them evolve! The program fast and fairly easy to use, and the C code is easy to understand and modify. Very good for learning. There is Tierra V5.0 around, with more debugging options, but the code is far more complex and slow.
