Same problem as many others: DOS.
I'ts not like Dos is bad or somting, it's just that newer computers don't run Dos programs very well (or not at all). I really need a program like this and it would be nice to have one works in Windows(please also in XP!).
I'm quite sure many people agree with me, so if anyone has the time, please take it.
Try CMD

You don't need "DOS" you silly people.
In XP, click Run... type CMD, hit enter...
In there type cd DIRECTORY_WITH_SUPCONV.EXE
Then type supconv ?
It should be quite obvious from there...
No Console GUI Based Genesis ROM Converter

I have written SMD BIN WIN 2.0b to address the many problems you may have with console based converters
SMD BIN WIN 2.0b can convert Genesis ROMs in the following formats: SMD, BIN, and MD
Check it out at http://www.codeisle.com or at http://www.romhacking.net/utils/383/
NOTE: The Romhacking.net description is wrong. They should have added that it can convert MD files as well.
Remember: it is still beta and has a few bugs. Don't try adding more than 100 files at a time to convert or you may have problems.
It runs on Windows XP too :)

Just because it is formatted using a console dosen't mean that you cant use it. This program did a fine job of converting my smd over to a bin. For the record it only supports the 8+3 naming convention, so no long names.
Vista version?

Is there a version of this program compatible with Windows Vista?
Btw, I don't understand how to use the CMD function, could anyone give more specific directions?
Perfect

It's easy to use and works great. It works on Vista Home Premium SP1. Simple instructions
1. winflag + R (for run prompt) or Start > Run
2. Type CMD > hit enter
3. For example say you have Supconv on your desktop you would type
4. cd supconv (if the folder was called that) > hit enter
5. Then type supconv.exe > hit enter to open the converter. Type supconv ? for help using the convertert
here is an example of converting a bin to smd.
by the way make sure the rom is in the same directory as supconv to save alot of hassle :)
supconv BS test.bin test.smd > hit enter
it's really simple.
