Flat real / real big / unreal mode (v1.2)

FLAT simply allows you to use 32-bit access on top of the
normal 16-bit addressing. 32-bit access is possible as the
well-known 64KB limits are just registers on the i386 and can
be altered to almost any value up to 4GB. FLAT is not new,
Microsoft's HIMEM.SYS already uses it since 1988 for its 'Move
Extended Memory Block' service. (80386-sx and better)

Just what I needed to access high memory in my dos-based chess program. Oodles of storage space above the 640K barrier.

Flat.zip contains a number of files - one of which was exactly what I needed and was searching for to put my Dos-based chess program into flat real mode. It is careful to carry out necessary checks (e.g. it refuses to attempt to run under 'Windows' which would be incompatible), and it is very concise. Good programming!

Could you please help me?

I got the real flat mode code and I would
like to use it in my own. However I cannot reassemble/build it.(FLAT,EX1,EX2)
Do you know which assembler/linker to use? Up to now I am using MASM 5.1 but
I yust got MASM 611d

I have already tried to reach the author
Herman but I cannot reach him.(Old e-mail
address, I think)
