Is a Freeware professional file searching utility for finding
information on your hard drive fast and efficiently. Agent
Ransack provides compelling advantages over similar search
tools: - Regular expressions that allow complex rule based
searches. - Immediate contents results view. - Various wizards
to walk the user through the searching process. Users familiar
with the UNIX GREP command will appreciate the ability to
search the contents of files using regular expressions and be
able to view found contents without having to open the files.
And best of all... it's FREE!

We needed to search hundreds of binary format files (*.trc, DB profiler trace files), in search of text strings (store procedure names). After playing with some other toys, this utility saved the day - actually probably saved a few days worth of manual labor. Support for regexes was invaluable.

Since I discovered that shitty WinXP "find" function doesn't work, I was going mad... Thank You

so amazing -- locates anything, hidden, locked, even virus-coded in seconds. miracle if you're completely disorganized and never file anything, like me -- with Agent ransack, no need to clean up my act, ever1

Ease to use, good performance, with UI and free. I use it as a grep like tools.
