Use QBasic first

It compiles - which makes it perfect for compiling QBasic code into EXE files for transport. However, I'd create the code using QBasic first (or just give up and use Visual Basic) - The compiler could be made better by adding mouse support, proper drop down menus, and the ability to highlight words using the shift key. But still - it compiles!

It's okay, but it has some changes from QB that hurt. The most hurtful is the SCREEN 13 support. As far as I can tell, you CAN'T get more than the regular 16 colors out of it. SCREEN 13 does not exist. It does, however, compile like lightening and without all of the annoying stuff that QB 4.5 requires. I still haven't figured out how to compile with the stupid thing! All in all, the .EXE's are solid. I also like the SUB routine handling. You leave the SUBs right in the "core code" and don't need to GOSUB to use them. You just CALL them. This works great because you can write the code and work out all of the glitches, and then just make it a SUB and keep on working. That is the best feature I have found so far. The SCREEN 12 resolution also changed slightly. It is a true (639 X 479) unlike QB, which is (639 x 463). Try it!

QBASIC compiles to executables, has mouse support, and an excellent help and debug interface. FirstBasic is on it's way, but don't count QBASIC out just yet. It's been around for a long time for a reason.

could you please tell me how to compile QBasic, so to run it without runtime modules/DLL's ?
I mean, distributing it standalone ?
