APLib Compression Library v0.36

APLib Compression Library v0.36

Submitted By: Jibz
Rating: starstarstarstar (Rate It)

APLib is a 32bit compression library based on the compression
algorithm used in aPACK (my executable packer). aPLib is an
easy-to-use alternative to many of the heavy-weight compression
libraries available. The compression ratios achieved by aPLib
combined with the speed and tiny footprint of the depackers (as
low as 169 bytes!) makes it the ideal choice for many programs.
Since the first public release in 1998, aPLib has been one of
the top pure LZ-based compression libraries available. It is
used in a wide range of software, e.g. many Windows PE
executable packers use aPLib compression. aPLib works with many
compilers (BC, Delphi, DJGPP, DOS32, GCC, GNAT, MASM, TASM,
TMT, VC, VPascal, Watcom) and under a number of operating
systems (DOS/Windows, BeOS, FreeBSD, Linux, OS/2, QNX). aPLib
is free for non-profitable use, however if you are going to use
aPLib compression in a commercial program you will have to
register.

Fast and small, enought good compression starstarstarstar   Posted on Monday, December 16, 2002

But not streamed - needed all data in memory, so forget about 666 mb data file packing :(
Also huffman compression ratio is better than lz-based (but surely slower :)
