ProGuard

Submitted By: Eric Lafortune
Rating: starstarstar (Rate It)

ProGuard is a free Java class file shrinker and obfuscator. It
can detect and remove unused classes, fields, methods, and
attributes. It can then rename the remaining classes, fields,
and methods using short meaningless names. The resulting jars
are more compact and more difficult to reverse-engineer.
Advantages of ProGuard compared to other Java shrinkers and
obfuscators are compact template-based configuration, memory
efficiency, and speed. ProGuard is released under the GPL.

Easiest Free Obfuscator on the Market starstarstarstarstar   Posted by: Chris on Monday, March 15, 2004

I researched quite a few, and this was is the easiest to learn how to use. Comes with a gui if you'd rather use it than the command line, but also allows for users who are comfortable to simply just use the command line.

great tool starstarstarstarstar   Posted on Friday, March 31, 2006

Works perfect for my Java-Applets. Obfuscates and shrinks them from 191 to 128KB and 177 to 123KB. Removes unnecessary classes.
I'm using Version 3.3.2.
