Salamander .NET decompiler

Submitted By: WEBMASTER
Rating: starstarstarstar (Rate It)

Salamander is a .NET decompiler that converts executable files
(.EXE or .DLL) from Intermediate Language (IL) binary format to
high-level source codes, such as C#, managed C++, Visual
Basic.NET, etc. For more than 8,000 classes that have been
tested, Salamander always produces equivalent and recompilable
codes that are remarkably close to the original source codes.

EXPENSIVE (Not rated)   Posted on Monday, December 09, 2002

1099 dollars for a license and with the evaluation you dont even get to see the code in your own subroutines you only get the first 15 subroutines in each class(the ones generated by VB.net for the forms and such)

Lutz Roeder's Reflector is a far superior decompiler, and is totally free.

Too expensive (Not rated)   Posted by: Shane on Monday, February 23, 2004

All of these tools for protecting code are great but very expensive for the little guy.
Microsoft should have included an obfuscator in .NET that worked without jumping through the hopes that dotfuscator makes you jump through.

Belting! starstarstarstarstar   Posted on Wednesday, March 03, 2004

I agree with a couple of the other guys, it is expensive, but is so accurate it makes the likes of Anakrino and Reflector seem more than a little poor.

Download link? (Not rated)   Posted on Friday, April 08, 2005

Where is the download link?

5 stars starstarstarstarstar   Posted on Tuesday, May 03, 2005

5 stars for salemander decompiler!!!!!

Legalized extraction?   Posted by: J G on Tuesday, May 31, 2005

Post a decompiler and sell an obfuscator to defeat it?
What?

unique approach   Posted by: James Kumar on Tuesday, May 31, 2005

Goes beyond obfuscation--good idea.
But support is not a strong point.

Spotty support   Posted by: Thom Part on Thursday, June 02, 2005

I think the support is weak...
but why do you need a decompiler anyway?
Build your own code and stop swiping apps!

the same vendor released a source code search engine (http://www.codase.com). Equally interesting!

Lousy experience star   Posted by: ascenda on Friday, August 08, 2008

Bought the software. Found that it does not work as well as it was 'advertised'. Ask the helpdesk for technical help. No reply for 1 month. Found a better software .NET reflector and it is free.
