It creates the Karnaugh map of a function and calculates the
minimum expression using the McCluskey algorithm. This program
is also useful for people who want screen shots of Karnough
maps. to run just extract the zip file to a folder and type:
java -jar Karnaugh.jar

Problematic tool starstarstar   Posted by: H T Vergos on Tuesday, October 19, 2004

Good try all together.
However, the author should take a closer look on minimization. This tool does not produce the absolute minimum function.
For example, consider the S(0, 1, 3, 7, 14, 15) and let {6, 11} be don't care conditions. The minimum function comes from performing groups of 4 twice and group of two once. However, the tool neglects the don't care term 11 and performs group of two twice and group of 4 once.
Given the ease of use and the nice graphics I would very much like to see the above error corrected.
Keep up the good work.

very good

Looks fine to me starstarstar   Posted on Friday, June 08, 2007

I did the Karnaugh map for "consider the S(0, 1, 3, 7, 14, 15) and let {6, 11} be don't care conditions" and came up with
!A!B!C!D + BC + CD. The program had the same solution. I don't see "the problem". Maybe it was fixed a long time ago. Thanks so much for making the tool!

Problem is there ! starstarstar   Posted by: H. T. Vergos on Monday, June 18, 2007

I was talking about F(C, D, A, B) not F(A, B, C, D). To check the problem with F(A, B, C, D) use S(0,4,11,12,13,15) + DC(9,14).
