I've used this Fake CD program in the past (2-3 years ago) on a tricky program that wanted to be installed ONLY FROM THE ORIGINAL CD... it worked good and faked the install program into thinking the network drive was the original CD! I'm anxious to try the new version and see if it's just as good.

I have used this to run Riven from my hard drive. After i installed atll the data files from the 5 CD's and configured fakecd it has worked flawlessly. no more swapping CD's

On the other hand, encryption and any other counter-copying measures on software you purchased legally is a violation of your rights of fair use.
Forget the EULA- unless you signed it at the store as a condition of purchasing the software, it is meaningless and only serves to intimidate.

i download this game , but it says i need to burn it on cd , so i tried to use fakecd to play it because i already have all the cd files .. but it says i need to put the cd's drive ! which i dont have ( the original cd )

I'm trying to run my original WitchHaven game without the use of a CD, by using FakeCD. Unfortunately, either the game itself is very old, or the author needs to reprogram his FakeCD... It appears to run fine, but unfortunately does not work properly. When FakeCD tells me that my new directory is now my CD drive E:, it is actually lying to me.

Nice try on the program, but it would be nice if this author could rewrite his code for Win32 platforms.

I Tryed this piece of code it's awesome, i usually play Escape from Monkey Island, The Curse Of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango.
This prog is the best.
I would ruined my CDs till now if this prog didn't existed.
But have some little problems with the coping why don't you include a documentation. Just a Short one for orientation.

I've such a noisy DVD drive, I would throw it in the dustbin if there was still my old 1x CD-ROM to be found, which was silend like a little cat. Now that I can't stand "Tomb Raider 3" making the noise ALL THE TIME, I have to try out fake-cd and hope it will solve this problem.

I used to use this program years ago before Windows XP, I was going to use it again recently after the DVD drive on my laptop broke (it will read discs half of the time and then randomly spit them out, which causes any game I'm playing to lock up). Unfortunatly though it doesn't work with XP, when running it in XP with no /L command it tries to assign the drive to the existing cd drive (and Windows doesn't recognise it), and with the /L command it tells you to add LASTDRIVE to Config.sys, XP no longer uses config.sys.
