FreeRTOS is an open source, mini real time scheduler – or RTOS
kernel. It is designed to be simple, portable and concise.
Nearly all the code is written in C, with only a few assembler
functions where completely unavoidable. Preconfigured demo
applications are provided for the following architectures: AVR
(MegaAVR) PIC (PICMicro PIC18), x86, Cygnal (8051) H8, ARM7,
MSP430 and RDC.

Quite simply an outstanding website and an equaly outstanding project. I have learned a great deal about RTOS design from studying this code. The RTOS itself is very useable and portable.
