No support or documentation for nonWindows systems
Posted by: Eugen on Friday, April 11, 2008
My company bought the source code version of this product for usage on Unix system. We received just the source code, no documentation for it, no sample code, no comments in the code, no help at all. Support people (who contrary to the comments I've seen dating few years back were not easily reachable) had no idea how to help with implementing their product on Unix. After six days of frustration we finally managed to convince them we really didn't get any sample code, so they sent us the one they have for VC++ (which is for Windows, but it was close enough to what we needed for our programmers to manage to make it work on Unix). Mind now, this version costs the same $289 as other, supported ones (at least I guess those really are supported).
The comments we've got from the support were that they "usually work with Windows", that their product "is a set of indicator formulas" (so why should we expect documentation) and that "the included example program shows every possible method call". When we repeated that there really wasn't any included example program (which they of course know; they can check the files they sent), we received a "Property Destruction Agreement" form. Nothing else, no comment.
So, be warned, it's not as good as it looks. We were impressed with positive comments on different sites, but I guess that was five years ago. Things change.
Oh yeah, and "low level database support" means just it works with csv files and nothing else. So there..
