Free Pascal (aka FPK Pascal) is a 32 Bit pascal compiler. It is
available for different processors (i386+ and 680x0) and
operating systems (Linux, FreeBSD, DOS, Win32, OS/2, AmigaOS).
The language syntax is semanticly compatible with TP 7.0, some
extensions used by Delphi (classes, rtti, exceptions,
ansistrings) are also supported. Furthermore Free Pascal
supports function overloading and other such features.

Absolutely the best Pascal compiler currently available except for Delphi.
Together with Delphi it is a perfect set of tools for any Pascal development
On Linux I even prefer this above Kylix. It is more native

FreePascal is a rock-solid Compiler which is compatible to the
most important and popular Pascal implementations as Delphi
or Turbo-Pascal. Since it is available for so many platforms, it
is the ideal tool to develop, port and maintain Pascal programs.
FreePascal is open source software under GPL. This makes the
product transparent to the public and guarantees that it will
not suddenly vanish like Turbo-Pascal!
