It'a good ideea.I'm also working on something like this,but in C.I have some suggestions for you :you might change the digital part in the center whit the date and make it resizeable.

I liked your idea of showing date instead of digital time. I would change it for sure, but my computer is crashed for 2 weeks now. Let's see how long it'll take.
