In the manual (txt file) there is a mistake. 74(ls)08 IS 4 x AND gate, not NAND !
So you cannot use it to invert anything. Instead use 7400 (NAND) or just inverter 7404.
I do not belive it works, anyway. (15KHz to 31KHz without adapter...??)
