I have a stupid problem with my IE8.0: I can not view some flash in it, for example, video from youtube.com. I've gone to the site http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/trigger/0/ to get install file. I've been waiting so long, but nothing appears at the top of the browser window to allow the install.

How could it be?? How can I download the install file except adobe site?

Thanks in advance.
The code I gave communicates directly with the hardware to do graphics. Windows will not allow you to communicate directly, but use video calls instead.
If you want to do windows based graphics, it's much more expandable and can handle higher graphics resolutions. OpenGL would be a good study. I always try to hold on to the past too long. I don't think DOS is making a comeback any time soon ;)

Sephiroth posted a reply on the Computer Graphics forum.
: This is the closest tab to my question...
:
: I was thinking about trying to make a program that
: would function just like an RCA video out, except
: that it goes through the soundcard (RCA is all
: waveform, including video) It would put out the
: waveform that would go to the TV as a picture,
: because then you wouldn't need to go out for a
: new video card. My problem is this:
:
: I cannot find any docs online that will explain how
: this works, and how it all comes together. I've heard
: that the frequency works as color, and amplitude as
: intensity, but beyond this (Such as individual pixels,
: and definition/resolution detection) I don't know.
:
: I would appreciate any links you could provide...
:
This really isn't graphics programming related, but I'll leave this thread here. You cannot do what you're asking without at LEAST writing a custom driver for your soundcard, and more likely without being able to modify the firmware on your soundcard. I suppose you could write a program that could convert video into waveform and send that to the soundcard as that waveform, then run a line from your line-out to your video-in on the TV, but the video waveform may be out of scope (too high or low-pitched sounds) and some of the wave may be clipped by the hardware or driver.

-Sephiroth

AsmGuru62 posted the message 'Re: Video memory problem' on the Assembler Developer forum.
: Hello everyone, I need to print a carrier return directly in video
: memory (without using DOS interruptions), I tried to found out how
: to do it in Google, but nothing useful have been found. For example,
: I have to print a row of one's, then print a carrier return, and
: then another row of numbers, as in the following description:
:
: 1111111111111
: 2222222222222
:
: Somebody know how to do this?
: I'm working under Windows.
:
: Best regards

I assume you working in DOS Prompt under Windows, because Windows will not allow directly operate on video memory outside of DOS Prompt.

The screen buffer begins at B800:0000 and it has some rows and columns. # of columns is usually 80. # of rows can be 25 or 40 in most cases.

Now, to print Carriage Return symbol means to stop writing on the current line and jump to the next line. If cursor is at the last line of the screen buffer - then all lines will be scrolled up revealing a new line, where the rest of symbols are written.

To make it happen you need to move data starting from beginning of line #2 to overwrite data from line #1. Each line on screen takes 160 bytes (80 x 2 byte for CHARACTER + ATTRIBUTE).

So, to sum up (assuming you have 25 rows on screen) you need to move 24 rows (24 x 160 bytes) from address B800:160 bytes to address B800:0000. Then you need to clear the line #25 with blank characters. The data can be copied with MOVSW instruction - it is slightly faster than MOVSB. You can use also MOVSD, but then you need to calculate the count. With MOVSW you just move characters.

	;
	; Preserve segment registers
	;
	push	ds
	push	es
	;
	; Making pointers:
	; ES:DI points to row #1
	; DS:SI points to row #2
	;
	mov	ax, 0B800h
	mov	ds, ax
	mov	es, ax
	xor	di, di
	mov	si, 160
	;
	; Move characters!
	;
	mov	cx, 24*80
	rep	movsw
	;
	; Point ES:DI to row 25
	;
	mov	di, 24*160
	;
	; Prepare a blank character with color 7 (default DOS color)
	;
	mov	ax, 0720h
	;
	; Fill the last row with blanks
	;
	mov	cx, 80
	rep	stosw
	;
	; Restore segments
	;
	pop	es
	pop	ds

: - Save the player name to the file
: - Add in a dexterity (or similar) attribute for increased success
: - Last line of beginning story is cut off if name is too long
: - Game froze when I leveled up (continuous loop)
: Can be passed by entering any number, but no prompt
:
: Other not so important:
: - Perform a check to make sure that no one has more health/mana
: than their max (darn CHEATERS! lol)
: - Stats always visible at top/bottom of screen
: - Use readkey() instead of readln() so you don't have to hit enter
: after every choice
:
:
: Also, if you would like it to always run full screen by default, add
: this to the start:
:
:
:    ASM
:       Mov Ax, $13
:       Int $10
:       Mov Ax, $03
:       Int $10
:    END;
:
:
: This sets the screen to graphics mode briefly, then returns it to
: text mode. Windows doesn't allow graphics modes to run in a window,
: so it automatically sets it to full screen. Also, Mode 13h (320x200
: 256 color) is available on every video card produced, so there are
: no worries of incompatibility.
:
: Nice work,
: Phat Nat
:
:
:
: YES! FINISHED! Score = 148302
: ...okay, maybe a slight cheat on the end boss. It's late.

Yay, thats nice.
Dexitery(spelling..) Is (*commented*) in code, because i can`t think of any good uses yet - besides, Strength and Intelligence have way stronger potential..
Perhaps Dex/3 = bonus armor or such.
Savefiles are saved in 2 slots - I could make it player name...
Would require some testing..
Too long name, well, didn`t think of that.
Besides - Could you tell me what versions you had played - since 1.33 is the newest (dual slot saves, randomized xp and gold, extra areas)
I have YUV and RGB uncompressed video with various formats.My aim is to split the Y U V and R G B components separately and render it to the screen.
Now the problem is when I show the components separately of YUV video file the Y (Brightness) and U V (color components)cann't show properly.There is a blue back ground color when Y showing and Green Color when U and V Showing.Again i choose black as view area background color at the Initial stage.Eventhough the video frames shows properly when the Y U V components display jointly.
The same logic apply for RGB video files.Every time it shows the proper output.
My doubt is this Is there any mismatch with Background color and Y U and V components .
Kindly send u All's idea's regarding that..................

repetitive drawing problem

in21h posted the message 'repetitive drawing problem' on the x86 Assembly forum.
Hi. Any help you can give me on this will be highly appreciated. My problem is as follows:

I need to draw some shapes on the screen (simple shapes: rectangles, triangles, etc.) and I have the code to draw them using a lot of "int 10h"s ... or I will, very soon. The problem is that I need to draw many of those shapes on the screen, and calling the interrupt-based procedure each time I need to draw 1 shape is very slow... I was wondering if there is a way to draw the shapes once in some unseen area of the screen and then just copying that into the visible area. I'm using video mode 12h.

Thanks in advance.
:
: Thanks much for your time!
:
The simplest solution is to place the video in the same security realm as the rest of the page. Since the user only needs to log in to a security realm once, he doesn't need to login again to view the video (unless the user needs an external player).
