Have one computer send a string to a certain port through tcp/ip, and have the other computer listen on that port and display the message. I'm aware that a web app by itself often has to run in a sandbox, but is there a way to integrate it with a locally installed application, so that the web app could activate the local app and get it to do things like analyze the directory structure, copy files, etc?
