Greenie needs help with web based .wmv

Posted the message 'Greenie needs help with web based .wmv' on the HTML & WEB-Design forum.
Hey All,

I am not a programmer, but am not getting a lot of help. We have a company site that some teaching videos where uploaded to. These open and play just fine when using Firefox on a PC or any MAC browser, but if we click on the link in any version of Internet Explorer, regardless of the version of java, flash and so forth, all we get is a new IE window with what looks like a lot of HTML code, but Windows Media Player never opens and the video doesn't play.

Is there something that should be changed in the way the website handles the request or is it a setting in IE or WMP. WMP is set as the default for .wmv files.
