Does anyone know anything about sockets in DOS-mode? I've looked all over the place...

Sockets are not native to 16-bit DOS (e.g. MS-DOS 6.X). You need 3d party TCP/IP libraries to do that. There used to be some shareware libs, but I did not use them.
