open a similar or related file? Posted by sobank on 16 May 2006 at 4:12 PM
Ok i am facing this problem for the first time.

my teacher asked me to write a code which opens a file whose name it stores in a char*

if it cant find the file it will open a file with a related name. now i have no idea whatsoever that what does "related" means. so i am hoping that it means a similar name or same extension.

how do i do this. I need some kind of example or some link to tutorial will be nice.

"related" could mean almost anything. Ask your teacher to clarify that ambiguity.
